I currently live in North Macon and I'm just really curious where the educated young professionals hang out in this area. I wouldn't consider Bonefish somewhere to meet people.
It's a restaurant. A lot of people go downtown on Fridays after work and frequent many of the restaurants and bars there, since you can carry your drink with you from place to place.

There are few job opportunities for professionals in Macon and therefore there aren't many single educated folks. There are things I like about Macon, but having very few young professionals is definitely a negative. I live in a very nice neighborhood with many retired and older residents.
I would guess more than 90 percent of their grown children currently live in metro Atlanta. That is where the professional jobs are. Frankly, I don't see that changing anytime soon.
It is almost impossible to get professionals to relocate to a smaller city. The best hope for changing this is to try to hold onto our college students after they graduate, but our local leaders don't get it.
They just keep focusing on manufacturing and distribution centers that produce low paying low skill jobs. You need those jobs, but they aren't the ones that are going to pump up the economy Sorry to hear your Macon experience is not good so far.
